Handmade Christmas Gifts

I was lacking in the gift department, so I made Mom and my sister wrist warmers/fingerless gloves and felt flowers for their coats. A friend showed me how to make the felt flowers, so many thanks to her! I still wear the ones she made. :)

"Ugly" Sweater

I found a plain, red sweater at Pink Ladies, a local thrift store, for an ugly sweater party. I was going to attach random, silly things to it (bells, bows, lights...) but I just couldn't bring myself to make it too ugly. Tacky would do just fine. Some ribbon, lace, and cute material later, and it's done. I didn't do a great job, but I'm pleased with the outcome... Plus it makes noise when I walk!

Along the bottom, on the back...

Quilt fail...sort of...

I've come to the conclusion that I can't make quilts, not even simple squared, one-sided quilts! I wanted to make one for my sister, but it didn't turn out as planned. Still though, I think it's cute, and would look nice on an arm chair or at the end of a bed.

The first problem... It came apart in the wash.

Second problem... I left a safety pin in! I was able to reach in from where the blanket fell apart and get it out, but next time (if there is a next time) I'll make sure nothing is left inside.

Love these prints!

Hello there.

It's been quite a while!

I have obviously been having too much fun to even remember I started this blog. :) My husband and I lived in Germany for 2 1/2 years and we miss it so incredibly much. Since we've been home, there have been some hardships, and there have been moments so horrible I couldn't breathe. I know it's going to take some time and a whole lot of fun to feel at home again, but thankfully time always passes on schedule.

Anyway, it's Christmas time, and that means a few "lucky" people are going to get hand made gifts! This crocheted blanket was inspired by a piƱata my younger sister gave me for my birthday. I think the stitch is called a woven stitch, but honestly, I never know what I'm doing and what the proper names for things are! I hope my friend enjoys this blanket!

The other crocheted blanket is for my mom. It's so freaking squishy! I'm pretty sure she's going to love it, especially since it's green, but I'm still looking forward to her opening this gift. Now I need to finish the quilt for my sister and the one I'm making for myself!

I used a hdc throughout, but only stitched through the back loop every 8th line to make the braided look. The border is a sc, and I wish I had extended it further to make the blanket a bit larger.
